Holy Trinity's Andrew Cacciatore verbally committed to the College of William and Mary, the TRIBE, in Williamsbug, Virginia.  With Regionals this weekend and the Tigers a huge favorite going in, Andrew and his fellow Tigers will try to secure their 4th consecutive State XC Championship on November 15th.

Why the Tribe?

When I was on my visit, I felt a connection with the team and it seemed to have a similar atmosphere as the Holy Trinity team. When I was looking for schools, I wanted a school that not only had a strong running program, but also strong academics. William and Mary seemed to have both and stood out the most to me.

What did you learn about the recruiting process?

At first the recruiting process is exciting because I traveled to some really nice colleges and met some great teams and wonderful coaches. It gets tough when it comes time to make a decision because I liked all of the schools, teams, and coaches that I visited.  Ultimately, I chose the college where I would be happiest and where I would be able to contribute to the team.

How did your visit pan out to William and Mary?  What did you see and do and your visit?

Going into my visit I was still uncertain of where I wanted to go, and had only narrowed my list down a little bit.  Once I arrived on the campus of William and Mary and met with the team, I felt as though I was already part of the team.  I spent a lot of time with a number of the guys on the first day.
On the second day, I ran with the team on a nice trail. Afterwards they took us on a tour of the campus, and I really liked the layout of the campus.  After the tour, I played cornhole with the whole team and teamed up with a familiar face, Ryan Gousse (Trinity Prep Alumni). The team was extremely close, and that was a strong point to me.

How big an impact was the coaching staff, which includes Chris Solinsky, influence your decision?

I want coaches that are going to push me to my limits, like Coach Butler has done the past 5 years. With that being said, I felt Coach Walsh and Coach Solinsky would be able to do that and help me to run at a higher level.

What's it mean to be a Tiger for the last several years?

Being part of the Holy Trinity Tigers has been such a privilege. I've gotten to run with some of the best guys, like Daniel Moore, Joey Castagnaro, Alex Brown, Tristan Kattenberg, and many others. All of the upperclassmen have had a huge influence on me and helped bring me to where I am today. I have tried to do the same for all of the junior high and freshmen runners currently on the team. Holy Trinity Cross Country has left its mark, and being able to be part of that has been a blessing.

You have a chance and are the heavy team favorites to get your 4th consecutive State XC Team championship.  How do you envision November 15th?

Our goal is to always win at the State meet. We are still putting in the work and will continue to do so up until November 14th. Coach Butler always seems to get us to peak by the time State rolls around.  I think we will definitely have a shot at the Team Title, but we will be in contention with some other strong teams.

Holy Trinity's Coach Butler:

"I could not be more excited for Andrew, he has been an amazing leader on a very young team the past two years. Andrew has run on our state winning cross country teams the past three years and hopes to lead us to our fourth in a row 10 days from now.  He joins a long list of guys and girls we have had go on and run at Duke, Columbia, Stanford, Davidson, FSU, Mercer, Florida Southern, Naval Academy, Florida, Colorado, USF, UNF and so many more.  He will do very well at William and Mary".
